At first the site can appear a jumble. But you start up the way and take in things one at a time. Along the first stretch of the sacred way is the Treasury of the Siphnians, a rich building from a small island. |

At the corner the sacred way turns and there is the Treasury of the Athenians (ca. 590 BCE, reconstructed 1903-06). It housed the offerings of Athens. |
|
A little farther up is the Stoa of Athens with an older polygonal wall behind it. |

| Along the walls are many inscriptions, testifying that a slave has been liberated. | ![]() |

Around the next bend we come to the Temple of Apollo. This was the temple where the oracles held forth. The columns were reconstructed in modern times. |
