The Treasury of Athenians
Built about 500 BC and rebuilt in 1904-06 this is located at a prominent location on the Sacred Way.
The building is about 10m by 6m.
Inscriptions on the walls include some with musical notation - very rare - and hard for us to understand even now. (See below)
Close up of the frieze over the entrance. It depicts the exploits of Hercules and Theseus. The original pieces are in the museum.
Several inscriptions can be read on the frieze.
Close ups of the frieze on the south side. The curve is due to the camera lens. Note all the deterioration, the darkening from pollution and the lighter marble of the reconstructed pieces.
