mycenaeThe view from Delphi
There is something hypnotic about this ever changing view.

I find the view here to be one of my very favorite things about my trips to Greece. For a starting perspective look at the Journey to the Oracle page.

Looking down to the south west you can see Itea on the near side of the bay, and perhaps Galaxidi on the far left on the far side of the bay.

Looking directly across you see some installations on the top of the hill.

I suspect this is some sort of fire or weather station. Maps show a track up to it, I would love to hike it some day.
As the light changes, as the sky goes clear or misty, the colors change and the scene changes.
Windmills on the far hills at dusk.
As night falls, the scene changes again. Things grow quiet.

At night you can see down to Itea and Galaxidi more clearly. And the very far shore? As a guess that is the southern coast of the Corinth gulf, somewhere to the east of Diakofto.

There is something magical about contemplating those cities and realizing that each light represents a person or family or business. One tends to imagine all those stories, all the pain and joy being experienced, all the drama, hopes and dreams and the sadness that we will never learn all of it. (2013 photo)

And the next morning, the cycle starts again. It is so quiet, you can hear noises from far off.
