The Agora has been built over and built over as it was in use for a very long time. Ruins from classical, Hellenistic, Roman and times before and after are all on top of each other.
The photo above, from 2009, was taken from the Acropolis. The rebuilt Stoa of Attalos is on the right. This now serves as the museum for the Agora.
The row of free-standing columns in the mid left are parts of the Odeion of Agrippa, a Roman-era building.
